Performance marketing agency in Delhi NCR: what it is, how it differs from digital marketing, and how agencies charge

By the Performance and Pixel team · · 5 min read

Almost every agency in Delhi, Gurugram and Noida now calls itself a performance marketing agency. The term sounds precise, but it is used for everything from a freelancer boosting Instagram posts to a team that tracks every rupee from ad click to closed sale. Before you hire a performance marketing agency in Delhi NCR, it helps to know what the work should include, how it differs from general digital marketing, and how agencies price it.

This guide covers all three, plus the numbers you should see in every report and the questions that separate real performance work from the label.

What performance marketing actually means

Performance marketing is advertising where every campaign is judged by a measurable business action: a lead, a call, a WhatsApp enquiry, a booked visit or a sale. Spend goes up on what produces those actions at a cost you can afford, and comes down on what doesn't. Reach and likes are only useful if they lead to one of those actions.

In practice it means paid campaigns on Google Search, YouTube, Facebook and Instagram, sometimes LinkedIn, run with three things in place from day one:

  1. Tracking that records each form fill, call and WhatsApp click against the campaign, ad and keyword that produced it.
  2. A target cost per lead or per customer, worked out from what a customer is worth to you.
  3. A testing routine where new ads, audiences and landing pages are tried every week and losers are switched off.

If any of these three is missing, you are buying ads, not performance marketing.

Performance marketing vs digital marketing

Digital marketing is the wider umbrella. It includes performance campaigns, but also SEO, social media management, content, email and brand work, much of which builds value slowly and is harder to tie to a single sale. Performance marketing is the part you can switch on, measure and scale within weeks.

Most Delhi NCR businesses need both. Paid ads fill the pipeline now, while local SEO and Google Business Profile work lower your cost per lead over time because more enquiries arrive without paying for every click.

What a good performance marketing agency in Delhi NCR does

The ad campaign is only one link in the chain. The agencies that get results look after the whole path from ad to sale:

  • Offer and landing page. A clear reason to enquire now, and a fast mobile page or lead form that asks the right qualifying questions.
  • Creative, made and tested weekly. On Meta especially, the ad itself does most of the targeting. Five to ten fresh creatives a month is a reasonable minimum for most budgets.
  • Channel choice that matches intent. Google Search catches people already looking; Meta creates demand from people who weren't. Our Google Ads vs Facebook ads guide explains when each wins.
  • Fast lead follow-up. A lead called back within minutes is much easier to convert than one called the next day. Automated WhatsApp replies close that gap.
  • Sales feedback. The agency should know which leads turned into customers, so it can optimise for buyers instead of form fills.

How performance marketing agencies charge: four pricing models

Ad spend is paid to Google or Meta and should always be shown separately from the agency fee. The fee itself usually follows one of these models:

ModelHow it worksGood forWatch out for
Fixed monthly retainerA set fee for an agreed scope of channels, creatives and reportingMost small and mid-size businesses; predictable costsVague scope. Get the number of creatives, campaigns and calls in writing
Percentage of ad spendFee is a share of what you spend on adsLarger, scaling budgetsThe agency earns more when you spend more, even if results don't improve
Pay per lead or per saleYou pay for each lead or sale deliveredBusinesses with clear lead definitionsLead quality. Agree upfront what counts as a valid lead and how fakes are handled
HybridLower base fee plus a bonus for hitting agreed targetsLong-term partnerships with good trackingTargets must be measurable by both sides, ideally from your CRM

There is no single right model. What matters is that you can see the fee, the ad spend and the results side by side. In India, GST is generally added to agency fees and the ad platforms also add GST to ad spend, so budget for it and check the current rate with your accountant.

The numbers that should be in every report

A performance report you can act on fits on one page. These are the lines to look for:

  • Spend by channel and campaign.
  • Leads by source: forms, calls and WhatsApp counted separately.
  • Cost per lead (CPL): spend divided by leads.
  • Qualified lead rate: the share of leads your sales team would actually call back.
  • Cost per customer (CAC): spend divided by new customers. This is the number that decides whether to scale.
  • ROAS for ecommerce: revenue from ads divided by ad spend.
  • What changed and what's next: creatives paused, tests launched, budget moved.

To give one real reference point: our rooftop solar campaigns run at ₹60–80 per qualified enquiry, and solar clients at scale typically get 20–30 leads a day and 5–10 site visits a week. Your industry's numbers will be different. A school, a clinic and a D2C brand all have very different costs, which is why any agency quoting a CPL before understanding your offer is guessing.

Red flags when hiring a performance marketing agency

  • "Guaranteed leads" or "guaranteed ROI". Nobody controls Google's or Meta's auctions. An agency can commit to a process, not to an outcome.
  • Ads running from the agency's account. Insist on your own Google Ads account, Meta Business Manager and pixel, with the agency added as a partner. If you leave, your data stays.
  • CPL with no lead quality. Very cheap leads that never pick up the phone cost more than fewer, better ones.
  • No tracking plan in week one. If calls and WhatsApp clicks aren't tracked, half your results are invisible.
  • Twelve-month lock-ins upfront. A short first sprint lets both sides prove the fit.

What the first 90 days should look like

  1. Weeks 1–2: foundations. Audit of past campaigns, conversion tracking for forms, calls and WhatsApp, landing page fixes, and an agreed target cost per lead.
  2. Weeks 3–6: test. Campaigns live on one or two channels, several creative angles and audiences running against each other, automated WhatsApp follow-up switched on.
  3. Weeks 7–12: cut and scale. Budget moves to the winners, retargeting is added, and lead quality is checked against actual sales.

By day 90 you should know your real cost per customer and whether it is worth scaling. That is how we work at Performance and Pixel: a 90-day sprint, then a flexible arrangement. We run Google Ads and Facebook and Instagram ads for businesses across Delhi NCR from our office in Dwarka, and you can see the full range of our digital marketing services in Delhi NCR.

Frequently asked questions

What does a performance marketing agency do?

A performance marketing agency runs paid campaigns on platforms like Google, Facebook, Instagram and YouTube and judges them by measurable actions such as leads, calls, WhatsApp enquiries and sales. It sets up tracking, tests creatives and audiences every week, and moves budget towards what produces customers at a cost you can afford.

What is the difference between performance marketing and digital marketing?

Digital marketing is the broad category that includes SEO, social media, content and email as well as paid ads. Performance marketing is the paid, measurable part, where every rupee is tied to a lead or sale. It brings results faster, but they mostly stop when the ad spend stops.

How much does a performance marketing agency charge in Delhi NCR?

Agencies usually charge a fixed monthly retainer, a percentage of ad spend, a fee per lead or sale, or a mix of these. Ad spend is paid separately to Google or Meta, and GST applies to both. Ask for the fee, the expected ad budget and the target cost per lead in writing before you start.

How soon can performance marketing bring leads?

Paid campaigns usually start bringing enquiries within the first one to two weeks. Getting to a steady, profitable cost per customer typically takes 30 to 90 days of testing creatives, audiences and landing pages.

Can a performance marketing agency guarantee results?

No honest agency can guarantee leads or ROI, because ad prices are set by live auctions on Google and Meta. What an agency can commit to is clear tracking, regular testing, transparent reporting and ads that run in accounts you own.
